Description

Screenwriter and artistic collaborator of Federico Fellini from La strada (1954) onward and for many years, Rondi was the person who remained artistically closest to the director throughout the whole of his major creative period. Indeed, Rondi’s collaboration with Fellini constitutes one of the most distinctive and unusual cases in Italian cinema, taking shape on the basis of a profound correspondence in terms of stylistic sensibility.

First published in 1965, this book is the outcome of an experience that was as intimate and sustained as it was dispassionate and objective. Yet the analysis of the individual films—probably the most extensive, original, and rigorous analysis ever devoted to the master from Rimini—is above all a journey, a tribute, and a stimulating essay on a particular way of understanding film criticism.
