With a degree in Film History from the Bologna University, a Master in Film writing and production from the Milan Università Cattolica, he attended the RAI Script courses and then embarked on a career in freelance publishing and production for film and TV. In 2010, he founded Dugong Films, a production company for the development of projects that explore the fine line between the languages of documentary, fiction, and art. The films produced by Dugong are selected at major international film festivals, garnering prestigious prizes, including the Silver Bear at the Berlin film festival with Giacomo Abbruzzese’s Disco Boy, the Cannes Goldeneye Award with Stefano Savona’s Samouni Road, the European Film Award (EFA) with Sara Fgaier’s The Years, and the David di Donatello Award with Stefano Savona’s Tahrir Liberation Square. A three-time winner of the Eurimages Lab Project Award, dedicated to the production of films that explore new forms of expression; his projects in development have been selected by major international coproduction programmes such as Berlinale Co-production Market, Torino Film Lab, Fid Lab Marseille, Agora Crossroads Co-production Forum, and Les Arcs Work in Progress. A member of Efa – European Film Academy, Alessi was EFP Producer on the Move at the Cannes Film Festival 2018 and a participant in the Emerging Producer programme. He teaches and tutors at the International Screenwriting and Production Master of the Milan Università Cattolica and was invited as an expert at East Doc Platform (Prague), When East Meets West (Trieste), EWA (San Sebastian), Arte Visione (Milan), REACT Regional Audio-visual and Training, Feature Expanded (Manchester), Castellinaria (Switzerland), and Milano Film Network.
