For cinema, he has written, among other works, the story and screenplay for A casa nostra, A cavallo della tigre, La lingua del Santo, Sud, Un’altra vita, Chiedi la luna, L’Atlantide, La settimana della sfinge, and Il portaborse (story only). He also wrote Domani accadrà (nominated for Best Screenplay at the European Film Awards) and Notte italiana. For television, he wrote, among other projects, the story and screenplay for the TV movie Rocco Chinnici, the miniseries Adriano Olivetti and Missus, the series concept and the first two episodes of Il paradiso delle signore, and the docufilm Aldo Moro – Il professore. For cinema, he also wrote and directed Le mani forti (winner of the Grolla d’Oro for Best Screenplay, nominated for the David di Donatello, Golden Globes, and Nastri d’Argento for Best Debut Director), which was featured at the Cannes Film Festival. He wrote and directed the docufilm Vivere, a special event at the Venice Film Festival, and contributed, alongside other directors, to the collective documentary Firenze, il nostro domani. For television, he wrote and directed the miniseries L’ultima frontiera and the TV movies Sotto la luna and Il caso Braibanti. He has also authored the novels La prima volta, A ciascuno i suoi santi, Il trono, and various short stories. He was a student of Age.
