Although the American dream is at the heart of his great Western successes, Carlo Simi has achieved much more, by translating Sergio Leone\u2019s vision of the American heyday (as in C\u2019era una volta in America<\/em>, 1984) and Pupi Avati\u2019s equally powerful concept of the American myth (Bix. Un\u2019ipotesi leggendaria<\/em>, 1991) into images, sets and costumes. This book, which is accompanied by floor plans, drawings, preliminary studies, architectural plans, photographs and stills, is enriched by interviews and accounts from the stars who worked with him and descriptions that Simi himself collected in his diaries. It is a tribute to the man who understood that, in the film industry, a good story, beautiful lighting, a capable director and great actors were no longer enough; but that it was also necessary to build a world around it. A world that would truly make people dream. And he did build it. What Carlo Simi created through the motion picture will remain forever.<\/p>\n
