The Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia takes part in the short film contest \u201cRistretto<\/strong>,\u201d a new initiative to celebrate the Rome-Paris<\/strong> twinning conceived and organized by the association Palatine<\/strong> to strengthen the bonds of artistic creation between France and Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cRistretto\u201d intends to promote the new generation of film directors<\/strong> and pay homage to the two most important film schools of both capitals<\/strong>, historical institutions devoted to the training of young filmmakers, i.e., the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome <\/strong>and La F\u00e9mis in Paris<\/strong>. Five French shorts made by the F\u00e9mis students and five Italian shorts from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia \u2013 Scuola Nazionale di Cinema were shortlisted. A jury of professionals will assign the award for best Italian and French shorts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On its first run, the \u201cRistretto\u201d jury is composed of Francesca Borromeo<\/strong> (casting director), Ronald Chammah<\/strong> (distributor-movie theatre manager, Paris Cinema Club \/ Films du Cam\u00e9lia), Federica de Sanctis<\/strong> (public relations, Netflix Italia), Alexandra Henochsberg<\/strong> (producer-distributor, Ad Vitam), Andrea Romeo<\/strong> (producer-distributor, I Wonder Pictures), and Aureliano Tonet <\/strong>(culture journalist at Le Monde<\/em>). The jury is presided over by writer Paolo Giordano <\/strong>(latest published novel Tasmania<\/em>, Einaudi 2022\/ Le bruit du monde 2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n On July 10th<\/sup><\/strong>, the two winners <\/strong>on the Ristretto contest will be announced during two parallel events held in the Rome Villa M\u00e9dicis and the Paris Italian Cultural Institute<\/strong> with screenings of the shortlisted films, with the presence of the jury members and the F\u00e9mis and CSC winning directors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The shortlisted films are the following: IL BARBIERE COMPLOTTISTA<\/strong> by Valerio Ferrara (19 min – 2022), LE VARIABILI DIPENDENTI<\/strong> by Lorenzo Tardella (16 min – 2022), NOTTE ROMANA <\/strong>by Valerio Ferrara (12 min \u2013 2021), I PEZZI BUONI <\/strong>by Emanuela Muzzupappa (15 min \u2013 2022), ROSA E PEZZA <\/strong>by Giulia Regini (17 min – 2022), ANANSI by Aude N\u2019Guessan Forget (20 min – 2022), KING MAX<\/strong> by Ad\u00e8le Vincenti-Crasson (21 min \u2013 2021), LES MAINS SALES<\/strong> by H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Rosselet-Ruiz (20 min \u2013 2021), L\u2019ESPACE RAPIDE<\/strong> by Martin G\u00e9rard (27 min – 2020), UBALDA <\/strong>by Th\u00e9o Cancelli (24 min – 2022).<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cRistretto<\/strong>,\u201d Italian expression for a short shot of espresso coffee used internationally<\/strong>, was conceived and organized by the association Palatine. Created by women professionals from the world of culture, film, journalism, and law, Palatine promotes Rome+Paris projects: cultural exchange events between Italy and France looking to Europe, based on wide participation and quality programming. In 2022, Palatine conceived the idea of the Rome-Paris twinning and carried out two connected, twin initiatives, Dolcevita-sur-Seine in Paris and Nouvelle Vague sul Tevere in Rome.
