One night, in revenge for a sheep theft suffered by his family and perpetrated by the shady Augustine Bonfiglio, the pastor goes to take back his sheep with the help of his lover Lucia and his sister Maria Grazia, but he is denounced and arrested.<\/p>\n<p>The restoration is carried out by the \u201cFotocinema\u201d workshop, from the negative scene provided by CristaldiFilm by Zeudi Araya and Massimo Cristaldi. The sound acquisition was carried out at the laboratory of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia &#8211;\u00a0 Cineteca Nazionale. The original photographic tone of the film was reconstructed with the supervision of cinematographer Giuseppe Lanci. The restoration of sound by Federico Savina. The restoration was presented at the Venice Film Festival and later at the Fondi Film Festival organized by the Giuseppe De Santis Association (http:\/\/www.assodesantis.com). She is depressed and tormented; her sense of dissatisfaction pushed her to the brink of suicide. The engineer Corrado Zeller, Ugo&#8217;s friend and colleague, seems to be the only one able to enter her world. Giuliana dreams of opening an art gallery, and worries too much about her son&#8217;s apparent illness (which turns out to be an attempt to attract attention and not go to kindergarten). The woman betrays her husband with Corrado, but even this new love made of silences and furtive glances does not seem to improve his mood. Corrado, also on a perpetual escape from reality, leaves for a business trip to Patagonia. Giuliana stays with her family<\/p>\n<p>Restoration made in 4K from the negative scene, it\u2019s made available by RTI-Mediaset. The color correction was supervised at the Fotocinema laboratory by the cinematographer Luciano Tovoli, in order to return to the film the chromaticism and photographic tone desired at the time by Michelangelo Antonioni and Carlo di Palma. The acquisition and restoration of sound were carried out at the laboratory of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia &#8211;\u00a0 Cineteca Nazionale, under the supervision of Federico Savina.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abI tried to exploit every little narrative resource of color so that it would come into harmony with the spirit of each scene, of each sequence. The agreement between certain new ways of using color in modern cinema \u2013 I think for example of Resnais, Bergman \u2013 is not accidental. That it\u2019s a need we have felt at the same time because it is linked to the expression of the reality of our time [&#8230;]. I never thought, &#8216;Now I&#8217;m going to put a blue next to a brown.&#8217; I wanted the grass around the cottage on the canal to be colored to accentuate that sense of desolation, of death. He comes home from work, prepares the dinner, then he finds an old gun wrapped in a vintage newspaper wich reports on the front page of the death of the gangster John Dillinger. He paints the gun in white dots on a red background, mimics his suicide in front of the mirror, starts an erotic game with the maid and then abandons her. He kills his young wife and flees aboard a yacht, offering to replace the newly deceased cook.<\/p>\n<p>The film has been restored in 4K from the original 35mm negatives made available by Movie7 Media, the Giuseppe Massaro&#8217;s company. The restoration was carried out by the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia &#8211;\u00a0 Cineteca Nazionale, in collaboration with the laboratory Cinema Communications Services \u2013 FLAT Parioli. The supervision of the color correction was curated by the cinematographer Luciano Tovoli, the supervision of the restoration of the sound is by Federico Savina. \u00abI edited the photograph of two films by Marco Ferreri \u2013 says Tovoli -, \u00a0<em>L&#8217;ultima donna<\/em> and \u00a0<em>Ciao maschio<\/em>. I remember him as a brilliant, provocative artist. <em>Dillinger<\/em> is a beautiful film, anticipating many themes of future cinema. I am very happy to have worked on this restoration, also for the esteem and friendship that bind me to the cinematographer Mario Vulpiani. It was an &#8220;easy&#8221; restoration: the base was very good, the film was preserved well. I worked with a light hand, without upsetting anything, we just tried to bring back to life the brilliance of the colors that had been lost a little. The film was scanned on 4k 16 bit at the Prasad Corporation laboratory in Los Angeles and then digitally restored at the \u201cFotocinema\u201d laboratory in Rome. The color correction was performed at the Laserfilm laboratory in Rome under the supervision of Vittorio Storaro, author of the film&#8217;s photography, as well as a former pupil of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. The restoration of sound was supervised by Federico Savina and carried out at the laboratory of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia &#8211;\u00a0 Cineteca Nazionale. The restoration work involved both the original version of the film, in English and French, premiered at the Bif&amp;st 2018 in Bari with Italian subtitles, and the Italian version, distributed in theaters. From the different versions of the film, the original integral work has been reconstructed, recomposing clips separated by Sordi himself. The work was done at the Augustus Color Laboratory in Rome, which also made a \u201cmaking of\u201d documenting the restoration operations in 4k.
